So here’s the thing, ‘Productivity’ is based on two major concepts: Planning and Working.
Both of these things can exist without the other, i.e. we often plan without actually working (making pretty to-do lists, etc.) and even more often we work without planning, both of these things need to exist together in order to reach your full potential. Having said that, I believe that Planning is more important than working.
This is because a great plan can elevate shitty work more than great work can elevate a shitty plan.
Being a great worker adds value to your plan, but having a great plan adds value to any work that you do.
To make a great plan, you need to know two key things:
What to do
When to do it
This information is what shapes up into the steps of a plan that lead to success, and it comes from multiple sources like e-mails, conversations, directions from clients, from our past experiences, etc. having relevant information is thus incredibly important to make good plans.
Unfortunately, having relevant information is not as common or easy as you think it is:
We write down a reminder and lose it under other sheets of paper
We archive an e-mail without labelling it and don’t have the time to find it at the moment
We save the information in a file that we can’t remember the name or location to
We set up a note-taking app and lose track of all the folders we made in an attempt to be organized
To sum it up,
Better plans ➡️ Better productivity
Better information ➡️ Better plans
Better information needs:
Better storage of information
Better retrieval of information
This is why having an Organized System is important.
How to make an Organized System
Don’t worry, I gotchu.
I’m hosting my first ever Notion Workshop on building Sigh-OS, my personal Notion Setup that has gone through 12 iterations (so far) and has helped me be super organized and helped me make plans for everything from school projects, freelance corporate projects and complex litigation work.
A system ideal for beginners and people that want to make their Notion more organized.
